These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of plaincompliance.ca (the "Site") and the policy generator tool it provides (the "Service"), operated by PlainCompliance. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms.
What the Service is
PlainCompliance provides a free tool that generates draft compliance policy documents (for frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR) based on information you enter. Documents are generated and downloaded directly in your browser.
Not legal advice
Documents generated through the Service are templates intended as a starting point for your compliance program. They are not legal advice, and using them does not guarantee compliance with any framework, regulation, or audit requirement. You should have qualified legal counsel, your compliance team, or your auditor review any generated document before relying on it, adopting it as company policy, or presenting it in an audit.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to: violate applicable law; misrepresent generated documents as having been reviewed by a licensed professional when they haven't; attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or overload the Site; or use automated means to scrape or bulk-generate documents in a way that degrades the Service for other users.
Your content
Information you enter into the generator (company name, policy details, uploaded logo, etc.) is processed locally in your browser, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't claim any ownership over the documents you generate or the information you enter.
Intellectual property
The Site's design, template language, and underlying code are owned by PlainCompliance. The specific policy document you generate and download is yours to use, edit, and adopt as you see fit.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy of generated content. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any specific audit or regulatory requirement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlainCompliance is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages related to reliance on a generated document in an audit, regulatory proceeding, or business decision.
Third-party services
The Site uses Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which operate under their own terms and privacy practices. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
